Juddmonte Sire Cacique Pensioned

Cacique (Ire) (Danehill–Hasili {Ire}, by Kahyasi {GB}), a dual Grade I winner and sire of three Group 1 winners, has been pensioned from stud duty at Juddmonte's Banstead Manor Stud due to continuing fertility problems.

Cacique, a full brother to fellow Juddmonte sires Dansili (GB) and Champs Elysees (GB) out of the outstanding producer Hasili, responsible for five Grade/Group 1 winners, won the 2006 GI Manhattan H. and GI Man O'War S. at Belmont Park under the tutelage of Bobby Frankel. He made an immediate impact at stud when his first crop, numbering just 29 foals due to fertility problems, produced six black-type horses and four group winners, headed by Group 1 winners Dominant (Ire), Slumber (GB) and Mutual Trust (GB). Cacique's second crop of just four foals produced the G2 Prix du Chaudenay winner Canticum (GB).

“We are very grateful to all the breeders who have supported Cacique over the years,” said Stud Director Simon Mockridge. “Not only did Cacique live up to his pedigree on the racetrack but, by being one of three full brothers to produce a Group 1 winner at stud, he also lived up to expectations as a stallion, despite a far from straightforward stud career.”

Mockridge added, “He is a horse with a huge amount of quality and a fantastic temperament, and he will now join Zamindar and Observatory in retirement at Banstead Manor.”
