Magic Touch

Dicton | Scoop Dyga

While all eyes were focused on the market leaders in the finale of a stellar edition of the G1 Irish Champion S., there was one outsider who caught the eye entering the mix in Godolphin's Moonlight Magic (GB) (Cape Cross {Ire}) and on that form he has a leading chance in Saturday's G2 Qatar Prix Daniel Wildenstein at Chantilly. Repeating the earlier form of his win in the G3 Derrinstown Stud Derby Trial S. over 10 furlongs at Leopardstown May 8, the homebred was sixth and beaten just six lengths over the same course and distance last time. He is dropping back in trip with cheekpieces applied and trainer Jim Bolger commented, “Moonlight Magic is attempting a mile for the first time and we are expecting a good run. He is in very good form and we hope all goes well.” Robert Ng's G1 Poule d'Essai des Poulains and G1 Prix du Jockey Club third Dicton (GB) (Lawman {Fr}) stays at a mile after a return fifth in the G1 Prix  Jacques le Marois at Deauville Aug. 14, while on a day where he is customarily strongly represented His Highness The Aga Khan is present again with Zayva (Fr) (Raven's Pass). Successful in the Listed Prix de la Cochere over this track and trip a month ago, the homebred is an intriguing rival for the colts.
