Runner-up descending Longchamp's seven-furlong chute last year, Limato (Ire) (Tagula {Ire}) makes a second overseas foray bidding to go one better in Sunday's G1 Prix de la Foret at Chantilly. The gelded bay was no match for G1 Poule d'Essai des Poulains hero Make Believe (GB) (Makfi {GB}) in this contest 12 months ago, but his cause will be aided by a drying surface coming back off a decisive triumph in Newmarket's G1 July Cup and a second to G1 Prix de l'Abbaye contender Mecca's Angel (Ire) (Dark Angel {Ire}) in York's five-furlong G1 Nunthorpe S. in August. Markus Munch's Spectre (Fr) (Siyouni {Fr}) has been admirably consistent at the highest level since annexing Maisons-Laffitte's G3 Prix Imprudence in April and, having tackled sophomores in the G1 Poule d'Essai des Pouliches and G1 Prix Jean Prat, ran fourth in Deauville's G1 Prix Jacques le Marois before running a highly commendable second to Vadamos (Fr) (Monsun {Ger}) in the G1 Prix du Moulin going one mile here three weeks ago. She is on a rapid upward trajectory and, allied to her age and gender allowances, presents a serious threat to the likely favourite. Andre Fabre claimed a third renewal with Make Believe last year and is represented by G3 Prix de la Porte Maillot victor Jimmy Two Times (Fr) (Kendargent {Fr}), who hit the board in August's G1 Prix Maurice de Gheest at Deauville last time, while dual South African Grade 1 winner Same Jurisdiction (SAf) (Mambo In Seattle) is an interesting nominee returning off a fourth, on European debut for the Ed Dunlop stable, in last month's G3 Sceptre S. at Doncaster.
