SANS EQUIVOQUE ON TOP AT MAISONS-LAFFITTE
Fresh from a narrow verdict going six furlongs in Maisons-Laffitte's G3 Prix Eclipse last month, Sans Equivoque (Ger) (Stormy River {Fr}) repeated the dose in Thursday's G2 Criterium de Maisons-Laffitte back over the same course and distance. Steadied at the tail of the seven-strong field after a level break, the 3-1 second favourite was nudged along to take closer order approaching the final quarter mile and kept on strongly under late rousting to deny the persistent attention of Boos (Fr) (Dream Ahead) by a head, with British raider Nations Alexander (Ire) (Dark Angel {Ire}) one length further back in third. “What an amazing filly she is,” beamed trainer Didier Guillemin. “She has improved with every run since day one and has had a terrific season. She is now finished for the year and we shall give her a long break. It's hard to say if she will stay stay further, or not, but we will find out early in the season with her first run probably being [April's G3] Prix Impridence back here over seven furlongs.”
Runner-up to Rapacity Alexander (Ire) (Dandy Man {Ire}) in Chantilly's June 11 Listed Prix la Fleche after registering a May 7 breakthrough score at Bordeaux-le-Bouscat, Sans Equivoque hit the board in Deauville's July 2 G3 Prix du Bois at Deauville, and built up to this contest off victories in the Aug.15 Listed Prix de la Vallee d'Auge back at Deauville and the Sept. 22 G3 Prix Eclipse over this course and distance last time.
Sans Equivoque descends from the prolific producer Boubskaia, whose daughters Silverskaya (Silver Hawk) won the G3 Prix de Royaumont and G3 Prix Minerve; and Daneskaya (GB) (Danehill) the G2 Prix d'Astarte. Those two produced G1 Metropolitan hero Seville (Ger) (Galileo {Ire}) and Japanese sire Six Sense (Jpn), respectively, while the fourth dam Frenetique (Fr) (Tyrant) produced Italian champion and sire Will Dancer (Fr) and En Public (Fr) (Rainbow Quest). En Public, in turn, produced nine stakes performers headed by G1 Grand Prix de Paris third Sardaukar (GB) (Royal Academy). This is also the family of last year's G2 Prix de Sandringham and G2 Prix Daniel Wildenstein victress Impassable (Ire) (Invincible Spirit {Ire}) and G3 Prix la Rochette and G3 Prix du Palais-Royal scorer Attendu (Fr) (Acclamation {GB}). Suissesse has also produced a yearling filly by Soldier Hollow (GB) and a filly foal by Motivator (GB).
