SILVER SHIELD (Medaglia d'Oro), a $425,000 KEESEP buy, brings a strong pedigree as the lone firster in this six-horse group. Out of MGISW millionaire Dream Supreme (Seeking the Gold), the Bach Stables and Hank Steinbrenner-owned colt is a half to GISW Majestic Warrior (A.P. Indy), who raced in the colors of the Steinbrenners' Kinsman Farm. Second dam Spinning Round (Dixieland Band) was also a GISW. Outrun (Medaglia d'Oro) was fifth on debut Sept. 3 at Saratoga for Repole Stable and the Todd Pletcher barn. Adding blinkers for this start, the $260,000 KEESEP purchase's dam is MGSW/MGISP Indian Vale (A.P. Indy), while his second dam is GISW Marley Vale (Forty Niner). Godolphin Racing's second-timer Newman (Bernardini) gets the morning line nod after running fourth in his Aug. 6 unveiling behind subsequent GI Hopeful S. and GI Champagne S. winner Practical Joke (Into Mischief).
