Simon Tuxen and Tony Shepherd have been approved as new board members of Racing NSW. Tuxen replaces outgoing member Jennifer Owen, while Shepherd replaces John Messara, who retires as chairman and board member from Dec. 31. It was previously announced that Russell Balding would fill the role of chairman of Racing NSW following Messara's retirement.
“Mr. Tuxen currently holds the position of General Counsel and Company Secretary with Westfield Corporation Limited, having previously held a number of other senior positions
with several other companies and law firms,” said Messara. “Westfield is one of the world's leading shopping centre companies with major investments in London, New York, San Francisco and Los Angeles. Mr Shepherd will commence on Jan. 1 and his appointment will be for the remainder of my term of office which was also due to expire on Dec. 18, 2018.”
Messara added, “Mr. Shepherd has had a long and distinguished business career, notably with the infrastructure company Transfield Services, where he eventually became chairman, before retiring in 2013. Mr Shepherd is currently the chairman of both the AFL Club Greater Western Sydney Giants and the Sydney Cricket Ground & Sports Ground Trust.”
