Derrinstown Offerings Top Sale

The inaugural single-session Tattersalls Ireland Flat Foal and Breeding Stock Sale took place on Friday, with Sheikh Hamdan's Derrinstown Stud selling the two top-priced lots. The 9-year-old mare Alsalwa (Ire) (Nayef) (lot 147) topped the table when selling for €78,000, in foal to Exceed and Excel (Aus), to Yeomanstown Stud. The dual winner is from the family of Japanese champion racehorse and sire Deep Impact (Jpn) (Sunday Silence).

It was a sizeable price gap to the 4-year-old mare Naizah (Ire) (Tamayuz {GB}) (lot 180), who was bought by Atlantic Bloodstock for €30,000 in foal to Raven's Pass. The most expensive foal of the sale was a €25,000 son of first-season sire Heeraat (Ire) (lot 129).

A total of 90 lots from 172 offered were sold for an aggregate of €726,400 and a clearance rate of 52%. The average was €8,071 and the median €4,400.
