Newmarket Mourns Loss Of Whitwood

Newmarket's bloodstock community was rocked at the start of the week with the news of the death of hugely respected equine chiropractor Carol Whitwood, who passed away at the weekend.

Over the past four decades many of the best racehorses and stallions in and around Newmarket (as well as thousands of the lesser lights) have benefitted from her experience, as most of the leading trainers and stud managers at various times have called upon what the late Leslie Harrison, former stud and racing manager at Plantation Stud for the late Lord Howard de Walden, used to refer to as “the genius of Carol Whitwood.”

Whitwood was treating horses for her regular clients right up to the time of her death, and her sudden passing leaves a huge hole in the community because she was as liked as much she was respected. She was invariably accompanied on her rounds of the stables and studs by her husband Martin, and we offer our condolences to him, to their sons, daughters-in-law and grandchildren.
