FAWREE (c, 3, Candy Ride">Candy Ride–Keeper Hill {MGISW-US, $1,661,281}, by Deputy Minister), a son of 1998 GI Kentucky Oaks victrix Keeper Hill (Deputy Minister), improved for a runner-up effort to Godolphin's Capezzano (Bernardini) on his 1400m debut Dec. 29 to impressively take out a 1600m maiden in the Thursday opener at Meydan. Ridden by South African Bernard Fayd'herbe for trainer Mike de Kock, Fawree attended what appeared to be a good pace, also disputed by the well-regarded Bee Jersey (Jersey Town). That duo more or less had the race between them as they hit the top of the stretch, but despite sitting the wider trip, Fawree proved the superior stayer on the day and drew clear nicely to take it by about five lengths from Bee Jersey. A $17,000 Keeneland September yearling purchase in 2015, Fawree improved dramatically and fetched $240,000 from Jehan Malherbe's Form Bloodstock at the 2016 OBS April sale. The winner is a half-brother to Kentucky-based sire Keep Up (Unbridled's Song), GSW-US, $300,545. Fawree is the most recent produce of the mare. Sales history: $17,000 yrl '15 KEESEP; $240,000 2yo '16 OBSAPR. Lifetime Record: 2-1-1-0, $35,169. Click for the Racing Post chart or ERA Video.
