Marnane Eyeing Qatar Challenge

Updated: January 23, 2017 at 1:27 pm

Trainer David Marnane has enjoyed plenty of success in Dubai over the years and he is hoping he can add Qatar to that list next month. Marnane plans to aim Damian Lavelle's great money-spinner Elleval (Ire) (Kodiac {GB}) at the HH The Emir's Trophy at Al Rayyan Racecourse Feb. 25, providing he passes his next test at Meydan later this week. “I'm going to chance running him over a mile and a half for only the second time in his life on Thursday,” Marnane told Irishracing.com. “If he gets on well, there is a race worth $1m coming up in Qatar that he could go for after that.” Despite only winning three races Elleval has banked well over £500,000 in prize-money for connections and the 7-year-old is currently competing at his fifth Dubai Carnival in a row.
