McDonald's Appeal Set for March

Jockey James McDonald, who was handed an 18-month ban by Racing NSW stewards after a betting offence, has an appeal set for Mar. 13, Racing And Sports reported Monday. The former retained rider for Godolphin in Australia, McDonald last rode Nov. 15, before he was stood down after being questioned by stewards regarding his association in a winning bet on Astern (Aus) (Medaglia d'Oro) in the Godolphin colt's debut from December of 2015. Officially disqualified at a stewards' inquiry Dec. 5, the New Zealander netted A$4,000, with the help of punter Anthony Gardiner, who is yet to be interviewed by Racing NSW stewards.
