The Race for Education is now accepting applications for all of their 2017 scholarships, which range from $500 to $5,000 and are for tuition only. Some of the scholarships included this year are the 4H Leg Up Scholarships, the Xpressbet Scholarship, the Frankel Scholarship, the Judy Willard Memorial Scholarship. They also continue to offer the Winner's Circle Program, a partnership with the American Association of Equine Practitioners and Platinum Performance, providing a $1,500 scholarship to third or fourth year students at AAEP chapters at every veterinary school in North America.
“The rising cost of veterinary school continues to present challenges to talented students who endeavor to enter the equine veterinary profession,” Hagyard Equine Medical Institute Veterinarian and Race For Education Board Member, Dr. Stuart Brown, DVM. “We are grateful to all of our donors and especially thank our partners AAEP Foundation and Platinum Performance for all their support. It's hard to imagine we have been able to assist so many veterinary students with now more than $830,000 in support since we started this program.”
All of the organization's scholarships recipients are required to take a financial literacy course, to help them better understand basic finance. All students are invited to participate in The Race For Educations Assets for Independence Program and if eligible may receive $4,000 in scholarship funds from a federal matching grant from the US Department of Health and Human Services Administration for Children and Families.
Deadline for most scholarships is Mar. 31 and applications can be found online.
