Rehabilitation Assistant

Pin Oak Stud is seeking a dedicated and passionate individual to join our team as a Rehab Assistant. In this role, you will work closely with the team to assist in the rehabilitation and conditioning of injured or recovering horses in training. Our farm focuses on innovative approaches to racing and breeding that show our commitment to the horse and the wider Thoroughbred industry.

Responsibilities:
● Assist in the daily care and supervision of injured or recovering racehorses undergoing rehabilitation treatments.
● Follow prescribed treatment plans and exercise regimens under the guidance of the farm trainer.
● Monitor the progress of rehabilitating horses and report any changes or concerns to the farm trainer.
● Maintain accurate records of treatments, medications, progress notes, and rehab schedules.
● Assist with the grooming, feeding, and general care of horse
● Ensure the cleanliness and organization of dedicated rehab facilities and equipment.

Qualifications:
● Previous experience working with horses in a rehabilitation or veterinary setting.
● Knowledge of equine anatomy, health care, and basic medical procedures.
● Knowledge of, and ability to use, equine rehabilitation equipment including aqua treadmill, cold water spa, laser therapy, etc.
● Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
● Proactive self-starter capable of structuring and managing your own daily schedule efficiently, while working as part of a team.

BROODMARE MANAGER – Thoroughbred Farm

Prominent central Kentucky Thoroughbred farm is seeking a knowledgeable and hands-on Broodmare Manager to take responsibility for the management, health, and welfare of our broodmare band while ensuring first-class standards of care.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage the daily care and supervision of all broodmares, in-foal mares, and foals.
  • Oversee the foaling season, including supervision of night watch and post-foaling care.
  • Ensure all mares and foals receive the highest level of husbandry, nutrition, and health care.
  • Liaise closely with veterinary teams to monitor pregnancies and manage reproductive issues.
  • Train and support staff involved with mare and foal care.
  • Maintain a strong culture of professionalism, welfare, and safety across all operations.
  • Uphold and foster all health and biosecurity protocols.
  • Coordinate farrier, veterinary, and nutritional programs.

Essential Requirements:

  • Experience in Thoroughbred broodmare and foaling management at a professional level.
  • Comprehensive understanding of equine reproduction and neonatal care.
  • Ability to work closely with farrier on young horse conformation development.
  • Proven ability to handle mares and foals calmly and safely.
  • Experience administering IM & IV injections, basic wound care, and proper bandaging.
  • Strong organizational skills; Horse Farm Management software experience preferred.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to teach, manage, and motivate a team.
  • Flexibility to work unsociable hours during foaling and breeding seasons.
  • Clean driving record and current license.
