The Irish Equine Veterinary Association (IEVA) Student Day will be held by the IEVA at the Irish National Stud, Co. Kildare, on Friday, April 3. Specifically tailored for veterinary students, the day is now in its third year. The full-day programme covers a wide range of topics, including equine asthma, endocrine disease, laminitis, from both a veterinary and farriery perspective, examination of the placenta, field anaesthesia, and equine dentistry. A meeting of the Members of European Parliament (MEP) Horse Group was held in Brussels on March 5 and arranged by the European Horse Network (EHN). The European Federation of Thoroughbred Breeders' Associations (EFTBA) was well-represented at the meeting by chairman Joe Hernon and Veterinary Advisory Committee chairman Des Leadon. The Irish Equine Reproductive Symposium was held after a six-year hiatus at Tinakilly Country House in Co. Wicklow on January 28-29 .
