Dual winner My Lyka (GB) (Intello {Ger}) is one of four wildcards added to the Arqana Summer Sale on July 4-6 in Deauville. Consigned as lot 449, the 98-rated 4-year-old was most recently fourth in the G2 Grand Prix de Chantilly. The other wildcards are lot 495, Full Of Shade (Fr) (No Risk At All {Fr}), who was second over hurdles in her second start; the placed hurdler Sun Joy (Fr) (Hunter's Light {Ire}) (lot 496); and Le Grande Yves (Fr) (Triple Threat {GB}) (lot 497), a two-length winner over...
Haras d'Etreham resident City Light (Fr) (Siyouni {Fr}) became Europe's latest first-crop sire to get off the mark when his Rod Millman-trained daughter Denruth Diamond (Fr) graduated over 6 1/2 furlongs in Wednesday's Prix de la Rablais at Saint-Cloud. 2nd-Saint-Cloud, €30,000, Mdn, 6-14, 2yo, f, 6 1/2fT, 1:24.44, sf. DENRUTH DIAMOND (FR) (f, 2, City Light {Fr}--Jeune Et Jolie {Ire}, by Verglas {Ire}), who claimed minor prizes in outings at Windsor in April and May, was well away from the outside stall to race in an early second and assumed...
Godolphin's Ancient Wisdom (Fr) (Dubawi {Ire}--Golden Valentine {Fr}, by Dalakhani {Ire}) turned heads when selling for €2-million at last year's Arqana August fixture, and he was back in the limelight with a highly polished debut display in Friday's GPW Recruitment Carl Foster Memorial EBF Novice S. at Haydock. The well-supported 6-5 favourite hit the line powerfully and finished clear of Under The Sun (GB) (Golden Horn {GB}), attaining 'TDN Rising Star' status in the seven-furlong heat with an impressive five-length triumph. Ancient Wisdom settled into a comfortable rhythm behind the...
Edouard de Rothschild's Alcantor (Fr) (New Bay {GB}--Bianca De Medici {GB}, by Medicean {GB}) was a picture of calmness during the extended preliminaries of Tuesday's Prix Chapeau Rouge at Saint-Cloud and exploded onto the scene with a rare display of authority to attain 'TDN Rising Star' status in taking fashion. The seven-furlong contest has been used as a springboard to higher by others, most notably subsequent Group 1 winners Glen Shiel (GB) (Pivotal {GB}) and Arapaho (Fr) (Lope De Vega {Ire}). Alcantor is the second Rising Star for his sire...
Recent listed winner Romina Power (Fr) (Le Havre {Ire}--Rockatella {Ire}, by Rock Of Gibraltar {Ire}) will be on offer for the June 13 Arqana Online Pop-Up Sale. Ecuries Serge Stempniak's hitherto undefeated Ace Impact (Ire) (Cracksman {GB}--Absolutly Me {F}, by Anabaa Blue {GB}) posted a third straight win when annexing last month's Listed Prix de Suresnes at Chantilly and returned to that Paris venue for Classic glory in Sunday's €1,500,000 G1 Qatar Prix du Jockey Club. Preceding his black-type breakthrough with impressive early-season wins at Cagnes-sur-Mer and Bordeaux-Le Bouscat, the 19-2 chance extended trainer Jean-Claude Rouget's record to six wins in the contest after defeating 17-10 favourite Big Rock (Fr) (Rock Of Gibraltar {Ire}) by an impressive...
French challenger Angers (Fr) (Seabhac--Angel Of Harlem {Fr}, by Holy Roman Emperor {Ire}), successful just once in six prior outings, was an almost unconsidered 12-1 chance for Monday's G2 38th Mehl-Mulhens-Rennen German 2000 Guineas and made a mockery of his odds with a power-packed display in the one-mile Cologne Classic. He becomes the second French-trained winner since the race's 1986 reincarnation, named in memory of Gestut Rottgen lynchpin Maria Mehl-Mulhens, and follows in the hoofprints of Alex Pantall's 2013 victor Peace At Last (Ire) (Oasis Dream {GB}). Angers backed up...
Team Ballydoyle got off to a perfect start on Irish 2000 Guineas day when the once-raced Unquestionable (Fr) (Wootton Bassett {GB}--Strawberry Lace {GB}, by Sea The Stars {Ire}) powered clear of his five rivals in Saturday's Tally-Ho Stud Irish EBF (C&G) Maiden at the Curragh for a 'TDN Rising Star' rosette. The July 2 G2 Railway S. entry lined up as the 4-6 favourite coming back off a promising debut third in this month's Listed First Flier S. and broke sharply to seize an immediate lead upped to six furlongs...
Undefeated Feed the Flame (GB) (Kingman {GB}) will be supplemented to the June 4 G1 Prix du Jockey Club, confirmed racing manager Gerard Larrieu, who purchased the colt for €270,000 at Arqana August on behalf of Jean-Louis Bouchard. Named a TDN Rising Star following an eye-catching 5 1/2-length victory going 10 1/2 furlongs at ParisLongchamp on Apr. 9, the Pascal Bary trainee returned to make it two straight with a victory at that same venue on Apr. 27. Christophe Soumillon, who was aboard for both of the colt's prior wins,...
Doctor Dino (Fr)'s Gold Dancer (Fr) (lot 7) was the most expensive lot at Arqana's Grand Steeple Sale when selling to PB Bloodstock, Harold Kirk and Willie Mullins on Wednesday. Consigned by Ecurie Arnaud Chaille-Chaille, the 4-year-old gelding won his second start over hurdles at Compiegne and made €250,000. The same buyers also snapped up debut-winning jumper Karia Des Blaises (Fr) (Jeu St Eloi {Fr}) (lot 3) for €130,000 from the draft of Emmanuel Clayeux. Kaleosun (Fr) (No Risk At All {Fr}) (lot 4) was second on the buyers' sheet...
