Arqana Summer Sale Catalogue Online

The catalogue for Arqana's Summer Sale, which has drawn 252 2-year-olds, fillies and mares and horses in training on July 20, is online. Breeze-Ups Back On At Last

Europe's belated breeze-up season at last gets underway on Thursday in Newmarket, with the combined Tattersalls Craven and Ascot Breeze-Up Sales (for which the breeze took place on Monday) setting the scene ahead of the joint Goffs UK and Arqana Breeze-Up in Doncaster six days later on July 1. Osarus staged its juvenile sale online on May 27, but these will be the continent's first live, in-person (and, crucially, in-horse) bloodstock sales since the world was brought to a standstill by COVID-19 in mid-March. The Tattersalls Guineas Breeze-Up Sale will...

Sottsass Back To Winning Ways In the Ganay

It was not easy for Sottsass (Fr) (Siyouni {Fr}) in Sunday's G1 Prix Ganay at Chantilly, but White Birch Farm's G1 Prix du Jockey-Club hero and G1 Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe third duly delivered to put his 4-year-old campaign on the right track. Settled third early by Cristian Demuro racing without cover as Shaman (Ire) (Shamardal) enjoyed an unpestered lead, the even-money favourite who had been fourth in the G2 Prix d'Harcourt at ParisLongchamp May 11 gained a narrow advantage with 300 metres remaining and battled gamely as Way...

Freshman Sire Territories Off the Mark at Chantilly

Dalham Hall Stud resident Territories (Ire) (Invincible {Ire}) became the latest freshman sire to have sired a winner when Haras de la Gousserie's Rougir (Fr) pounced late to garner Wednesday's Prix Pauline over seven furlongs at Chantilly. 2nd-Chantilly, €22,000, Mdn, 6-10, unraced 2yo, f, 7fT, 1:29.76, g/s. ROUGIR (FR) (f, 2, Territories {Ire}--Summer Moon {Fr} {SP-Fr}, by Elusive City), originally named as Lune de Printemps (Fr), was restrained to settle off the pace towards the rear for most of this debut. Inching closer once into the straight, the 8-1 chance...

Sea the Stars's Terebellum On Top In the Dahlia

Strongly-supported for Saturday's G2 Betfair Dahlia Fillies' S. at Newmarket, Godolphin's G2 Prix de la Nonette winner Terebellum (Ire) (Sea the Stars {Ire}) justified the burden of 10-11 favouritism to provide Frankie Dettori with his first winner in the royal blue since 2012. Travelling smoothly in mid-division early, the bay moved to Magic Lily (GB) (New Approach {Ire}) and into the lead passing the two-furlong pole before holding Queen Power (Ire) (Shamardal) to score a shade comfortably by 1 1/4 lengths. Making a bold impression with a 4 1/2-length winning...

Camelot's English King Too Good In the Derby Trial

Twelve months after Anthony Van Dyck (Ire) (Galileo {Ire}) brought kudos back to Lingfield's Listed Derby Trial, the former group 3 contest played host to another with potential to roll it back to the glory days of High-Rise (Ire), Kahyasi (Ire) and Slip Anchor (GB). While Bjorn Nielsen's colours were being adorned by Frankie Dettori at Newmarket, the Ed Walker-trained English King (GB) (Camelot {GB}) was carrying them around this Epsom-like terrain as if he was on wheels. Moments after he had brushed aside the G3 Zetland S. runner-up Berkshire...
