Sassy C W wins the Prairie Gold Lassie
'TDN Rising Star' Sassy C W Holds On To Stay Perfect In Prairie Gold Lassie

'TDN Rising Star' Sassy C W (Yaupon) went gate to wire to take the Prairie Gold Lassie at Prairie Meadows on Friday. The filly already shot fireworks off when she debuted a winner at Churchill Downs in late April. Her 5 1/4-length win earned her that coveted 'Rising Star' badge and it marked her as the 45 cents on the dollar favorite coming into the Astoria Stakes at the Spa June 5. The 2-year-old did not disappoint her backers then either as she wired the field. Once again garnering the...

The Week in Review: There are Just Too Many Stakes Races

They got just four horses for the $100,000 Los Alamitos Derby Saturday, hardly a surprise since most stakes run at Los Al wind up with depressingly small fields. The Ashley T. 'Rising Star' Sassy C W Much The Best In The Astoria

Sassy C W put in a 'TDN Rising Star'-worthy performance in her Churchill debut Apr. 30, going gate to wire with the race notes simply stating "rocket ship" to become the first winner for her freshman sire (by Uncle Mo). Away the slowest of the quintet, Sassy C W wasted absolutely no time in rushing her way to the front and opened...

Wonder Again Kicks Off Belmont Stakes Festival

The GII Wonder Again S., which grants a spot in the GI Belmont Oaks starting gate to the top three finishers, kicks off a race week loaded with stakes action Thursday in what NYRA refers to as the Belmont Stakes Racing Festival. Chad Brown has saddled the winners of three of the eight renewals of this event and it is of no surprise that he sends out the race favorite again this year in Klaravich Stables' two-time stakes winner Consumer Spending (More Than Ready). She is a deserving favorite after...

Runhappy's Happy Soul Dominates Astoria S.

Happy Soul was hammered down to 1-9 favoritism off a dominant graduation at this oval and ran to the money with another devastating performance in the Astoria S. at Belmont Friday. Shooting out to a clear lead, the Wesley Ward trainee zipped through a :21.92 opening quarter with no looming threats. Turning for home alone as the half went in :45.74, the bay poured it on in the lane to win for fun by eight lengths in 1:05.69. Constitution Gal (Constitution) was the runner-up. Second to her male stablemate Nakatomi...
