The Jockey Club, the Breeders' Cup and the Kentucky Thoroughbred Association have filed Amicus Curiae briefs supporting the rights of Churchill Downs and Keeneland to prohibit Lasix in races for 2-year-olds. The two Kentucky tracks are being sued by the Kentucky Horsemen's Benevolent and Protective Association, which is seeking a temporary injunction that would stop the tracks from instituting so-called house rules that cover the Lasix ban. Twenty-seven individuals are on the ballot for the election of 19 Breeders' Cup Members. On May 29, the Breeders' Cup election website will open for the 2019 Breeders' Cup foal and stallion nominators to begin the voting process. Of the 27 candidates on the ballot, 17 are incumbent Members standing for re-election. The 19 individuals receiving the most votes will each serve a term of four years.
