The Canadian Thoroughbred Horse Society's Premier Yearling Sale, to be held Aug. 31 at Woodbine, has attracted over 200 entries and will include yearlings by 67 different stallions. CTHS Alberta Details '22 Mare Recruitment Program

The Canadian Thoroughbred Horse Society (Alberta Division) outlined the new Mare Recruitment Program (MRP) offering incentives to mare owners who bring an in-foal mare to Alberta to foal in 2022. The criteria for the MRP program are: Breeders will receive a C$750 incentive for each in-foal mare brought to Alberta. The in-foal mare must not have foaled in Alberta in 2020-21. Practical Joke Filly Tops CTHS Sale

A filly by Practical Joke (hip 75) brought the top price of C$180,000 and was one of five yearlings to sell for six figures during the Canadian Thoroughbred Horse Society's Premier Yearling Sale Wednesday at Woodbine. CTHS Honors Alberta Champions

The Canadian Thoroughbred Horse Society (CTHS) honored Alberta's Thoroughbred sector at the 47th annual Night of Champions, held virtually May 20. The night celebrated Real Grace (Mineshaft) as Alberta's 2020 Horse of the Year and Champion 3-Year-Old Colt. Jim Sabiston Passes Away

Canadian breeder Jim Sabiston passed away Saturday. He was 97. Sabiston operated Longview Farm near Stouffville, Ontario for more than six decades, beginning in 1956 with his first stallion Bimini Bay. Among the numerous sires he stood were Dawn Flight, Triumphant, Ground Cover, Good Old Mort and Bold Revenue. He bred stakes winners Rose and Shine, Grecian Touch, Silent Fleet, Katahaula County, Big Blunder and Bold Agent. CTHS To Provide Online Bidding For 2020 Sales

Officials at the Canadian Thoroughbred Horse Society (CTHS) have announced that the organization has contracted with Direct Livestock Marketing Systems (DLMS) to provide online, real-time bidding for all bloodstock its sales in 2020. Within the context of the COVID-19 pandemic and with the health and safety of its clientele the primary concerns, CTHS has restricted the number of attendees at its sales and online bidding will enable more people to participate remotely.
