Turf Racing Returns to the Big A Thursday

After being delayed due to punishing winter weather in January and February, and with continued overnight cold extending into March, turf racing will return Thursday, Apr. 16 at the Big A, NYRA announced Sunday afternoon. Live racing has been canceled at Laurel Park for this coming Saturday, Mar. 14 due to insufficient entries, the track announced Monday morning. With the impending meeting at Colonial Downs set to kick off Thursday, Mar. 12, and two Points races for the Kentucky Derby and Kentucky Oaks scheduled for Saturday, Mar. 14 at that venue, Laurel Park will move all originally scheduled races for Saturday to Sunday, Mar. 15 as overnight extras. Live Racing at Aqueduct Canceled on Sunday Due to Storm

Live racing has been canceled at Aqueduct Racetrack by the New York Racing Association, Inc. due to a powerful winter storm forecast to bring heavy snowfall and extremely high winds to the region.   The National Weather Service has placed New York City under a blizzard warning beginning at 1 p.m. Eastern and continuing through Monday at 6 p.m. Aqueduct will also be closed for simulcasting on Sunday. NYRA Cancels Live Racing Wednesday Through Friday at Aqueduct

Woodbine Moves Thursday Post Time Forward to Accommodate New Card

The live racing card at Woodbine set for Thursday, Dec. 11 will begin one hour earlier to accommodate the new card after the Dec. 4 program was cancelled following one race, Woodbine Entertainment has announced. Del Mar Cancels Saturday Card Due to Weather

With inclement weather affecting much of the country, Del Mar will cancel the entirety of its card on Saturday, Nov. 15, the track said in a press release on Thursday. Sunday's eight-race card at Aqueduct was abandoned due to 'unacceptable noise levels' from an event being held at the neighboring Resorts World Casino, the New York Racing Association (NYRA) announced via press release. High Winds, Electrical Issues Force Fair Grounds Cancellation

As a result of the severe storms which moved through the area, and are still making their way through large parts of the country, high winds and corresponding electrical issues have forced Fair Grounds to cancel live racing Saturday. The nine-race card had six main track and three turf contests scheduled for the day, but power loss in the area forced the track to abandon the card. With training on the main track remaining limited to joggers Saturday morning at Santa Anita due to the rainstorms during the week, the synthetic training track saw 76 horses record timed workouts over the course. Parx Adds January 30 to Live Racing Schedule

With the recent winter weather-related cancellations, Parx Racing, in collaboration with the Pennsylvania Thoroughbred Horsemen's Association (PTHA), will offer live racing on Thursday, Jan. 30 in an effort to reschedule days which have been lost due to adverse conditions, the groups announced jointly Friday afternoon. Winter Storm Forces Cancellation of Laurel's Sunday Races

Due to the storm that will impact the Mid-Atlantic region, officials at Laurel Park made the decision to cancel their scheduled nine-race program for Sunday, the Maryland Jockey Club announced via press release. With a forecast that calls for more than two inches of rainfall Sunday, officials at Santa Anita Park have preemptively canceled live racing scheduled for that afternoon. The program was to feature the GIII $100,000 Las Virgenes S. for 3-year-old fillies and the GIII San Marcos S. for older male turf horses.
