Smarty Jones Leads 2025 Hall of Fame Class to be Inducted Friday

Smarty Jones (Elusive Quality), winner of the GI Kentucky Derby and GI Preakness Stakes, leads a class of seven who will be inducted into the National Museum of Racing and Hall of Fame in Saratoga Friday morning. D. G. Van Clief, Josh Pons Named Hall of Fame Committee Chairs

The National Museum of Racing and Hall of Fame has revealed that D. G. Van Clief and Josh Pons have been named to the Hall of Fame committee as chairs of the Contemporary Nominating Committee and the Pillars of the Turf Committee, respectively. Seven new members have been elected to the National Museum of Racing and Hall of Fame, headed by Smarty Jones, a finalist for the first time and featured on these pages this week. Veteran Journalist, Historian Edward Bowen Dies At 82

Long-time racing journalist and historian Edward Bowen passed away Monday, Jan. 20 at his home in Versailles, Kentucky at the age of 82, according to the Grayson-Jockey Club Research Foundation. Bowen was the Blood-Horse Editor-In-Chief from 1987-1992. He was hired at Grayson in 1994, and spent 24 years as the president of the foundation, during a career in racing and journalism which spanned over 60 years.
