ThoroughbredAuctions.com Mixed Sale a Test for Online Auctions

Selling Thoroughbred horses online has never quite caught on in the U.S. as buyers and their advisors are obviously reluctant to purchase a horse they cannot examine in person. But a West Virginia-based auction company is forging ahead with an ambitious online sale later this month, its owners confident that Thoroughbred racing is ready to accept the online marketplace. "In 2000, if you asked me if this is going to work I would have said no," said Tim Jennings, who runs ThoroughbredAuctions.com with his wife, Cathy. "I just didn't think...

Gamine Another Mighty Oak from 'Grand' Acorns

It's a French word, applied to a young woman of attractively boyish features. But the naming of Gamine (Into Mischief) appears to reflect a less elfin quality; to suggest something closer to the power and masculinity of the "tomboy." For here is a young female with all the assertive virility of her barnmates Charlatan (Speightstown) and Nadal (Blame), who followed in her scalded prints when also scoring on the final card of the Oaklawn meet 10 days ago. The two colts, of course, won a division apiece of the GI...

In Advance of Horse Influx, Human COVID-19 Testing Begins in Kentucky

The mandate of swab testing for all Kentucky racetrack personnel exceeds the scope of recommendations published May 7 by the National Thoroughbred Racing Association (NTRA). Bob Elliston, Keeneland's vice president...

Further Tributes to Dennis Lynch

Editor's note: We continue to receive tributes to Dennis Lynch, who passed away Friday. If you would like to submit yours for consideration for publication, email suefinley@thetdn. ANDREA GREATHOUSE I didn't know Dennis as well and as long as most, but the years I did know him will forever be memorable. The first time I met Dennis, I was young, green and new to the sales side. He welcomed me with open arms (literally) and every time after that. He gave the BEST hugs. I'm not sure if that had...

Tributes to Dennis Lynch

In Saturday's TDN, we ran the sad news of the passing of Dennis Lynch, the Senior Account Executive at Fasig-Tipton. One of the sad and strange things about the time in which find ourselves is the inability to gather at rituals such as funerals, where we have the opportunity to tell someone's loved ones how we felt about them, and make one another feel just a bit better through the sharing of stories. As such, we thought we'd give people that chance in our pages to let people talk about...
