2nd-GP, 84K, Msw, 3yo, f, 6f, 11:30 a.m. Kicking off a loaded Pegasus World Cup card at Gulfstream Park, St. Elias Stable homebred BENEFICENCE (Into Mischief) makes her debut for trainer Todd Pletcher. The daughter of Playtime is a half-sister to GSW Jouster (Noble Mission {GB}), a mare who brought $1.5 million from Katsumi Yoshida at Keeneland November in 2022. Playtime herself is a daughter of Eclipse-winning 2-year-old filly Storm Flag Flying, meaning the family also includes MGISW My Flag. Quick on the work tab, Beneficence has put up four...
MGISW, 'TDN Rising Star, presented by Hagyard' and Eclipse Award-finalist Ted Noffey (Into Mischief) had his first work on the year when he breezed three furlongs in :37.01 Friday morning at Palm Beach Downs. "It went super," said trainer Todd Pletcher. "Everything went great. He did it well in hand with good enthusiasm. It seems like he's maintained his fitness level fairly well, so we're very pleased. He's put on some weight and filled out, but he was a pretty mature 2-year-old, physically. He was a good-sized colt to begin...

Her dam Icon Project has been mostly forgotten but here's a reminder: she ended her racing career in 2009...

The first decoupling salvo of Florida's 2026 legislative session that could lead to Gulfstream Park and Tampa Bay Downs being able to cease live racing while retaining their gaming rights was fired Tuesday morning when Rep. Adam Anderson submitted a bill that shares similarities to a controversial initiative he backed in 2025 that cleared the House and one committee in the Senate. Like the 2025 attempt, the bill that will be in play when the new legislative session begins Jan. 13 would allow either of Florida's two Thoroughbred tracks to...
Not to be outdone by 6-year-old Skippylongstocking (Exaggerator) in the GIII Harlan's Holiday one race prior, classy Woodslane Farm homebred Wolfie's Dynaghost (Ghostzapper) went not one but two better, winning the GIII Ft. Lauderdale Stakes as a 7-year-old in record time. The Brian Lynch trainee, making his 32nd start Saturday, took over a year off following a run at Turfway Park in the GIII Kentucky Cup Classic Stakes in March of 2024. Remarkably, the gelded son of the great Ghostzapper returned as a 7-year-old in June of this year, winning...

The FBIF for all maiden special weight and allowance races will increase from $5,000 to $10,000, maiden optional claimers will be upped from $43,000 to $50,000, and all open stakes purses of $150,000 or less will get an increase of $25,000. 1/ST Racing...
7th-GP, $70k, Msw, 2yo, 1 1/16mT, 3:18 p.m. ET Epic d'Oro (Medaglia d'Oro), a full-brother to the once-in-a-lifetime Rachel Alexandra, makes his first career start for Todd Pletcher going two turns over the Gulfstream lawn. He brought $1.35 million from the fledgling Las Vegas-based Epic Horses at last year's Keeneland September Yearling sale. The bay was bred in Kentucky by Dede McGehee. "He is a really good mover," the operation's advisor and CEO of Town & Country Farms Shannon Potter said at KEESEP while declining to reveal the names of...
TAPPAN STREET, last seen on the track winning the GI Curlin Florida Derby in March, missed quite an eventful summer. Take for instance the horse he defeated that day in Sovereignty (Into Mischief), who never lost again this season and looks to be a strong candidate for Horse of the Year. Had a condylar fracture in his right front leg not knocked him off the Road to the Kentucky Derby, perhaps Tappan Street would have had more to say in the big 3-year-old races this season. As it stands, the...
Out of action since his case of thumps in the GII Charles Town Classic Aug. 22, 6-year-old Skippylongstocking (Exaggerator) returns to Gulfstream Park Saturday to contest the GIII Harlan's Holiday Stakes. Having started each of his last four campaigns in Florida for trainer Saffie Joseph Jr., the fan favorite, who won this same race in front-running style as a 3-year-old in 2022, gets back on track after an eventful summer where he ran seventh to Sierra Leone (Gun Runner) in the GI Whitney Stakes before fading from the lead on...

The Florida Thoroughbred Breeders' and Owners' Association (FTBOA) is in the process of taking initial steps to activate a long-dormant, non-profit, Thoroughbred-specific state racing permit with the goal of building a "modern, new Thoroughbred racing track and entertainment complex" in the Ocala area. Lonny Powell, the FTBOA's chief executive officer, made the disclosure Tuesday during a panel discussion at the Global Symposium on Racing hosted by the University of Arizona Race Track Industry Program in Tucson. Powell said it was the first time the FTBOA has revealed the initiative outside...
