A power outage right before the sixth race Sunday afternoon forced Tampa Bay Downs to cancel the remainder of their card while Aqueduct pre-emptively abandoned the Monday fixture in advance of forecasted high winds. The first reported issues Sunday at Tampa Bay Downs occurred shortly before the start of the sixth race when the power went off as the horses were behind the gate. High Winds KO Live Racing at Aqueduct Thursday

Thursday's scheduled Jan. 9 live racing card at Aqueduct Racetrack has been cancelled due to high winds, according to a release from the New York Racing Association, Inc. (NYRA) Wednesday evening. The winds are anticipated to impact the New York City area throughout the day Thursday. Aqueduct will remain open Thursday for simulcasting, with live racing expected to resume on Friday with a first post of 12:40 p.m. ET.

The New York Racing Association, Inc. (NYRA) has canceled live racing on Thursday at Aqueduct Racetrack due to high winds forecast to impact New York City throughout the day, the track said in a release early on Thursday morning. The National Weather Service called for sustained high winds on Thursday with gusts approaching 50 mph. As of 8:00 a.m. ET., New York City is under a high wind advisory. Live Racing Canceled Friday at Aqueduct; Laurel Cancels Midway Through Card

With a forecast calling for sustained winds of 25-35 miles per hour with gusts as high as 60 mph, officials at the New York Racing Association canceled Friday's live program at Aqueduct. The track remained open for simulcasting. Live racing is scheduled to resume Saturday at 1 p.m. ET with a nine-race card featuring the $100,000 Jimmy Winkfield S. Later in the day Friday, Laurel cancelled after race four of its eight-race program due to similarly gusty conditions.
