Fewer Race Days In July Lead To Lower Economic Indicators

With 13 fewer races days compared to the same month last year, July saw most of its economic indicators down month over month. Some of the biggest changes occurred in available purses (-4.96%) and U.S. starts (-6.35%) with only average wagering per race day seeing a positive trend (+2.25%). Arqana Summer Sale Catalogue Offers Something For Everyone

The catalogue for the Arqana Summer Sale, featuring over 560 horses bred under both codes, is now available online. Keeneland Requests Five-Day Summer Meet in July

Keeneland has submitted a request to the Kentucky Horse Racing Commission's Race Dates Committee for a five-day summer meet, to be held Wednesday, July 8 through Sunday, July 12. Under the current safety protocols, the summer meet would be held without spectators. The summer dates accommodate a portion of the 16-day spring meet that Keeneland was forced to cancel due to the COVID-19 outbreak. Keeneland also will share return to racing protocols with Gov.
