Pope Strikes for Tapit Filly at KEESEP

Mandy Pope outlasted Chad Brown, who was bidding on behalf of Peter Brant, to take home a Tapit filly out of MSW & GSP Danzatrice (Dunkirk) (Hip 603) for $1.1 million during the Book 2 opener at Keeneland Wednesday. The chestnut was bred and sold by Gainesway. Her dam is a half-sister to champion Jaywalk (Cross Traffic). Pope purchased the filly's full-brother for at the auction last year for $1.3 million with Gainesway staying in for a piece. He is now named Tapit Trice and is in training with Todd...

Well-Bred Gun Runner Colt Opens Book 2 on a High Note

It did not take long for the action to get going during Book 2's opening session Wednesday with Hip 383, a colt by sensational young sire Gun Runner, summoning $1.05 million just minutes into the session. He was purchased by the powerhouse partnership headed by SF, Starlight and Madaket Stables with SF's Tom Ryan doing his bidding on the phone. Bred by Ann Fostock, the Feb. 2 foal was consigned by Pope McLean's Crestwood Farm. The bay hails from a deep Juddmonte family with his second dam being MGISW Flute.

Curlin Colt Joins Million-Dollar Club at Keeneland

A colt by Curlin out of Grade I winner Carina Mia (Malibu Moon) (hip 169) added to a parade of seven-figure yearlings at Keeneland Monday when selling for $1.7 million. KY Downs Offers New Option for KEESEP Grads

Kentucky Downs offers a new option this year in collaboration with its horsemen and the Keeneland Association in a pair of $250,000 allowance races restricted to horses who went through the ring at last year's Keeneland September Yearling Sale.
