After canceling their Saturday evening card due to potential threats posed by a chemical leak at a local aerospace manufacturing plant, Los Alamitos is scheduled to race Sunday. The mixed card begins 5:45 pm. On Thursday, a large, pressurized tank filled with thousands of gallons of methyl methacrylate-a toxic, highly flammable chemical used in the manufacture of resins and plastics-began leaking. CHRB Ups Max Age Limit For Maidens From Five to Six

Last year the California Horse Racing Board (CHRB) approved the establishment of maximum statewide ages at which horses can race--10 years old for winners and five years old for maidens. On Wednesday, the CHRB voted unanimously to tweak that rule, raising the max age for maidens to six, with the stipulation that such horses would be receiving "increased scrutiny" from the state's regulatory veterinarians. With the maintenance team scheduled for an annual track refresh Feb. 7-8, there will be no live racing at Los Alamitos Race Course on either day, the track announced via release.
