Fixed-odds betting options on horse racing could come to New York residents if a new bill introduced by Senator Joseph Addabbo, Chairman of the state Senate's Racing, gaming and Wagering Committee, is passed, according to a story from the Thoroughbred Idea Foundation. Senate Bill 2343 is similar to a measure introduced a year ago, also by Sen. Addabbo, but which was never advanced for a vote, TIF reports. Monmouth to Offer Stakes Worth $7.7M in 2023

Headed by the $1-million GI Haskell S., Monmouth Park is set to offer $7,735,000 in stakes races when the track kicks off its 78th season Saturday, May 13. This season, which runs through Sept. 10, will feature 48 total stakes, including 10 graded events, and nine stakes restricted to New Jersey-bred horses. Due to a forecast calling for heavy rain, live racing has been cancelled for Saturday, Oct. 1, for the all-turf Monmouth-at-Meadowlands meet, the track announced on Friday. The six races scheduled for Saturday will be extras when entries are taken Tuesday, Oct. 4, for the Friday, Oct. 7, card.
