Parx To Install New Turf Course; PA Keeps '26 Racing Dates Level

Parx will begin installing a new turf course in March with the goal of racing on it by late summer 2026. There has been no grass racing at Parx since September 2024. Storms Force Parx to Cancel Racing Monday

Parx was forced to abandon its racing card following the sixth race Monday as a band of intense rain storms hit the Philadelphia area. The track was sealed ahead of the incoming storms and a weather delay was initially announced, but once the deluge hit, officials were forced to cancel races seven through 10. Heat Forces More Racing Cancellations at Parx, Delaware, Finger Lakes

Parx, which announced last week it was canceling racing Monday and Tuesday due to excessive heat, has now also abandoned its slate of live races Wednesday. Finger Lakes also wound up canceling their Tuesday card after initially trying to race, citing the excessive heat index in the area. With a heat wave gripping much of the country, Delaware Park has also been forced to cancel its Wednesday card. Earlier in the week, Finger Lakes and Prairie Meadows each canceled their live racing cards Monday due to weather.
