Pat Smullen, Irish Champion Jockey nine times throughout his career, passed away on the evening of Sept.15 at St Vincent's Hopsital in Dublin, Ireland. Diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in March of 2018, he was 43. A €100,000 cheque from Cancer Trials Ireland was presented by nine-time champion jockey Pat Smullen to doctors at St Vincent's University Hospital, Dublin for a next generation sequencing (NGS) machine, Horse Racing Ireland announced on Monday.
