Sales Reflection: Pinhookers Wade In While Syndicates Cash In

Here's to the hardy souls still grafting away at the Goffs December National Hunt Sale. For the mostly Flat brigade, however, we can now hang up bobble hats and waterproofs, put the final catalogue on the shelf (sorry, iPad users, not quite caught up with you yet) and wonder what to do with ourselves until the February Sale comes around. Oh yes, Christmas, that will distract us for a few days. During the long and frenetic sales season there is little time for reflection, but as the dust settles on...

Group 1 Winner Tamfana to be Offered at the Tattersalls Sceptre Sessions

Tamfana, who won the G1 Sun Chariot Stakes a year ago this weekend, is to be offered during the Sceptre Sessions at the Tattersalls December Mares Sale, which begins its four-day run on Monday, December 1. Prior to that, she is set to race in Sunday's G1 Prix de l'Opera at Longchamp. 'We're Not All Things To All Men' – Syndicate With A Difference Counting Down To Tamfana Swansong

Patience is an essential quality in any individual wishing to be a part of Quantum Leap Racing, but even the most ardent supporter of the successful syndicate will have been pushed to their limit by events of the past few months. It's one thing having to wait for your unraced juvenile to make his or her debut, but it's quite another having to wait for a filly like Tamfana to make her return to the Group 1 stage. It's the glorious uncertainty of what the future might bring versus the...

Prix De Diane Up Next For Improving Tamfana

Tamfana (Ger) (Soldier Hollow {GB}) will attempt to gain compensation for her luckless run in the G1 1,000 Guineas when she makes her next appearance in the G1 Prix de Diane at Chantilly on Sunday, June 16. Trained by David Menuisier, Tamfana confirmed herself a high-class filly when finishing fourth at Newmarket, passing the post less than a length behind the winner and looking unlucky not to get closer still having endured a troubled passage. Now all roads lead to Chantilly and the next stage of a plan which has...

New Anglo-Australian Partnership For Rodrigo Diaz

British-based Quantum Leap Racing has teamed up with Australian Bloodstock in the 4-year-old Rodrigo Diaz (GB) (Golden Horn {GB}) with the aim of sending the 96-rated stayer to the Melbourne Cup. The winner of four of his 10 starts for David Simcock, Rodrigo Diaz was a 55,000gns Tattersalls December Yearling Sale purchase by Jeremy Brummitt, an agent with a good track record in buying European yearlings for the Australian market. The gelding will now race in a 50-50 partnership between the two syndicates.  Quantum Leap Racing, which was established by...

Age Gap No Problem For European Yearlings

The state of lockdown has given a decent boost to TV viewing figures in Australia, where racing has been allowed to continue behind closed doors. The major feature this week is the Warrnambool May Carnival, which is perhaps best described as Victoria's answer to the Galway Festival, with its mixture of Flat and jumping action and, in a normal year, huge crowds. It's quieter at 'The Bool' this year but there are a few familiar names among the entries for anyone tuning in from this part of the world. In...
