Ka Ying Still 'Rising', Sets Another Record In Chairman's Sprint Prize

After vowing earlier this week that Ka Ying Rising (Shamexpress) would not be chasing any more track records in defence of his title in the HK$24-million G1 Chairman's Sprint Prize, jockey Zac Purton will be only too happy to have been proven wrong. That's because the 5-year-old wunder-sprinter made the 1200-metre contest his 20th straight success, lowering his own mark by 0.02 and sweeping the Hong Kong Sprint Series for the second straight season. It has been just short of 500 days since Ka Ying Rising was last defeated in...

Japan's 2025 Champion Sprinter Satono Reve (Lord Kanaloa) claimed his second consecutive G1 Takamatsunomiya Kinen at Chukyo on Sunday. He set a new record time for the race, crossing the line in 1:06.30 for the 1200 metres on firm turf. The course record is 1:06.20. Away in good order, the 2.5-1 favourite perched in midfield while Invincible Papa (Shalaa) cut out early fractions. Satono Reve was winding up for his run three deep leaving the bend. The pacesetter streaked 1000 metres in :55.20, but his lead evaporated close home. Shifted...

All Four Defending Champs Return For HKIR

Hong Kong is the December place to be for world-class horseracing and Sunday's Longines Hong Kong International Races--offering some HK$130 million (£12.5 million/US$16.7 million) across four races--has once again attracted a veritable who's who from a variety of racing jurisdictions. In a real racing rarity, each of the winners from last year's meeting returns to Sha Tin and each has realistic chances to repeat the dose. Indeed, it would be a complete shock if two of the four--Romantic Warrior (Acclamation) and Ka Ying Rising (Shamexpress)--fail to deliver in the HK$40-million...
