Pletcher To Begin Serving Suspension, Repole Reacts and Legal Team Vows to Fight On

According to the rulings page of the New York State Gaming Commission, trainer Todd Pletcher began serving a 10-day suspension Thursday. The suspension stems from the 2022 GI Hopeful Stakes when the Pletcher-trained Forte (Violence) tested positive for Meloxicam, a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory. Pletcher has denied using the medication with Forte. The Gaming Commission also ruled that Forte was officially disqualified from the Hopeful victory. Billy Loughnane's Ban Reduced To 14 Days For Southwell Ride

Jockey Billy Loughnane has had his 21-day ban reduced to 14 days after the British Horseracing Authority (BHA) "obtained further evidence from parties present at the start" following the Southwell race in question. Loughnane had ridden Beelzebub (Dark Angel) in the day's final race on March 26, with the horse receiving a kick and deemed lame prior to the start. In a unanimous decision, the State of New York Supreme Court, Appellate Division Third Judicial Department, has thrown out a 14-day suspension and a $2,000 fine that was originally handed down by the Commission to Todd Pletcher after a horse he trained tested positive for an overage of phenylbutazone (bute) following a July 30, 2022 race at Saratoga, and has remanded the matter back to the New York Gaming Commission for a rehearing. Jockey Albin Jimenez Suspended One Year For Belterra Ride

Following a review of his ride from race two at Belterra Thursday, Aug, 21, current leading local jockey Albin Jimenez has been suspended for one year by the Belterra Park board of stewards. The race in question featured Jimenez failing to put forth his best effort aboard 3-5 Afleet Vintage (Afleet Alex) where he ultimately wound up second.
