Coolmore and Westerberg's hitherto undefeated 'TDN Rising Star' Delius (GB) (Frankel {GB}--Whatami {GB}, by Daylami {Ire}), who added to his win column going 12 furlongs at Chantilly last month, continued on a roll over the same course and distance in Sunday's G3 Prix du Lys Longines to lay down a marker for next month's G1 Grand Prix de Paris. The 8-5 favourite was steadied off the pace through the initial fractions and improved position to track the leaders in fourth approaching halfway. Taking closer order in the straight, he was...
Godolphin's 525,000gns Tattersalls Craven Breeze-Up graduate Anno Domini (GB) (New Bay {GB}--Alegra {GB}, by Galileo {Ire}), a half-brother to last month's G1 Poule d'Essai des Pouliches runner-up Kathmandu (Ire) (Showcasing {GB}), made a winning debut in Thursday's Get 100/1 On England At BetVictor EBF Novice S. at Newbury. 2nd-Newbury, €12,000, Nov, 6-13, 2yo, 6 1/2fT, 1:18.73, g/f. Nurlan Bizakov's Sumbe bought the two-for-two listed winner Hot Darling (Ire) (Too Darn Hot {GB}) for a record 460,000gns during the Tattersalls Online Pop-Up Sale on Wednesday. The daughter of Boater (Ire) (Helmet {Aus}) won her debut at Chantilly in April before taking the Listed Prix des Reves d'Or at Vichy on May 15. She was consigned by trainer Amy Murphy and is from the same family as 2024 G1 Poule d'Essai des Poulains hero Metropolitan (Fr) (Zarak {Fr}). The bay carried an entry in Sunday's G3 Prix du Bois...
Silvestre de Sousa gained his third European Classic victory of the year on Sunday as he produced the Paolo Aragoni-trained Tomiko (Ire) (Footstepsinthesand {GB}) with a strong late run to land the G2 Oaks d'Italia Tattersalls at Milan's San Siro Racecourse, working the oracle on a filly who was remarkably gaining the first win of her career on her eleventh start. De Sousa--who'd already won the G1 1,000 Guineas on Elmalka (GB) (Kingman {GB}) and the G2 German 2,000 Guineas on Devil's Point (Ire) (New Bay {GB})--was riding Tomiko for...
There will be something for everybody at this year's Tattersalls July Sale, according to Edmond O'Mahony, chairman of the sales company, who pointed to Group 1-winning sprinter Regional and classy broodmare Bumbasina as poster horses for what is one of the most diverse sales in Europe. Regional, who provided trainer Ed Bethell with a day he will never forget when winning last year's Betfair Sprint Cup, was sold for just 3,5000gns at the July Sale while Bumbasina, dam of Australian star Amelia's Jewel, is another high-profile graduate. This year's catalogue...
After the excitement of the Derby, there was a moment of futurity at the start of Doncaster's evening meeting on Saturday as Twafeeg (Ire) (Far Above {Ire}--Disko {Ire}, by Kodiac {GB}) became the latest TDN Rising Star with her impresive success in the 6 1/2-furlong maiden. Sent off at 18-1, the Archie Watson-trained newcomer from the first crop of Starfield Stud's resident tanked her way to the front soon after the start under Connor Beasley. Sent clear passing the two-furlong pole, Sheikh Hamed Dalmook Al Maktoum's 65,000gns Tattersalls Book 3...

With a little help from above, Stephen Byrne of Knockgraffon Stables enjoyed an emotional fillip during a time of unimaginable heartache when selling his Coulsty (Ire) colt for €200,000 just over two weeks after his brother and former jockey Michael died in tragic circumstances. The sales ring can be a magical place. Full of dreams and disappointments, but on Friday, Tattersalls Ireland was full of tears. And smiles. Lots of smiles. An understandably emotional Byrne said, "It's been a very rough couple of weeks but my brother Michael was looking...
The talk on the breeze-up circuit this year has been dominated by poor clearance rates combined with a record number of private sales, an ever-increasing polarisation to the market and a Houdini-like disappearing act by the middle tier buyers. So what has the mood been like on the eve of what is widely considered to be the final big breeze-up sale in Europe at Tattersalls Ireland? Pretty good actually. This sale has almost always been operating in its own realm--you never know who you are going to see here. Take...
Star Bloodstock, the consignment that unearthed talents like Malavath (Ire), A'Ali (Ire) and more, is set to wind down its breeze-up operation and concentrate entirely on producing future top-notchers on the racetrack instead. The shift in focus has reaped immediate rewards with the aptly-named Make Haste (GB) (Blue Point {Ire}), a leading Royal Ascot contender after posting a stunning debut success at Naas for trainer and breeze-up consignor Diego Dias, being snapped up by Gainesway and LNJ Foxwoods. Bought by Byron Rogers, Star Bloodstock and Dias at the Tattersalls Book...
Aidan O'Brien trainee Fairy Godmother (Ire) (Night Of Thunder {Ire}--Scintilating {GB}, by Siyouni {Fr}) was usurped by Sparkling Sea (Ire) (Starspangledbanner {Aus}) on debut at Naas last month and returned over the same six-furlong strip to exact revenge on that reopposing rival in Sunday's G3 Coolmore Stud Irish EBF Fillies Sprint. Ryan Moore was keen to settle the 6-5 favourite into a smooth rhythm and anchored his mount at the tail of the six-runner field through the initial exchanges of this straight dash. Easing closer onto the heels of the...
