Kentucky Derby Museum Turns 40, Celebrates Four Decades of Telling Stories

The Kentucky Derby Museum is celebrating 40 years of telling stories Monday as they officially opened their doors to the public Apr. 28, 1985 and have served more than 7.2-million guests since then, the organization announced Monday morning. Established thanks in part to an endowment from the James Graham Brown Foundation and support of private donors, the museum credits its partnership with Churchill Downs as a key part of its ongoing success. Kentucky Derby Museum to Remain Open This Summer

While racing has transferred from Churchill Downs to Ellis Park for the remainder of the Spring Meet, the horses will remain stabled at the track and the Museum will also continue to operate its standard and specialty tours in addition to the Museum exhibits, 360-degree movie The Greatest Race, Museum Store, and Derby Café & Bourbon Bar. The Museum is open Monday through Saturday, 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. and Sunday, 11:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. For more information on the Museum, click here.
