Applications Open For TJC Internship Program, Scholarships

Edited Press Release Applications for The Jockey Club's paid internship program for college students and recent college graduates as well as its five academic scholarships opened Monday, the organization said in a release. The eight-week internship program will accommodate up to three interns and is now available in the summer or fall based on the intern's preference. A traceability survey has been launched by The Jockey Club. The survey records the status of a Thoroughbred, including the horse's use and location, so that the industry can better understand the whereabouts of Thoroughbreds that have retired from breeding and racing. The Jockey Club Traceability Initiative helps track Thoroughbreds after their breeding and racing careers, estimate the current population, and improve traceability. The Jockey Club Extends Free Lifetime Starts for Breeders

The Jockey Club's Free Lifetime Starts for Thoroughbred breeders, which provides a complimentary race record for Thoroughbreds that is updated after each domestic or international start, has been expanded to include all registered racehorses, as well as younger horses that are registered, but have not reached the track. The service was launched earlier this year and more than 8,500 horses are now enrolled, representing approximately 2,250 unique breeders. The Jockey Club Announces New Reciprocal Agreement with the MRC

The Jockey Club has agreed a new partnership with the Melbourne Racing Club (MRC) in Australia, which will grant annual members at all 15 Jockey Club Racecourses complimentary admission to all MRC fixtures. The arrangement will initially be in place from August 1 this year through to December 31, 2026.
