Oaklawn Cancels Saturday Card

Racing at Oaklawn Park has been cancelled for Saturday, it was announced Friday evening. The GII Rebel Stakes card remains on schedule for Sunday with first post at 12:00 p.m., gates and infield open at 10:30 a.m. The Monday card will also run as scheduled, first post 12:30 p.m., gates open at 11:00 a.m. There was a winter storm in the Hot Springs area earlier this week.

Oaklawn Postpones Thursday's Card to Monday

Oaklawn Park has postponed Thursday, Jan. 30's card, rescheduling it to Monday, Feb. 3. Severe weather, including possible flash flooding, is forecasted for the area for Thursday. The Jan. 30 race date was originally added to make up for other race dates lost to winter weather. Weather has repeatedly played havoc on Oaklawn's calendar this season. Live racing is expected to resume Friday, Jan. 31.

Parx Adds January 30 to Live Racing Schedule

With the recent winter weather-related cancellations, Parx Racing, in collaboration with the Pennsylvania Thoroughbred Horsemen's Association (PTHA), will offer live racing on Thursday, Jan. 30 in an effort to reschedule days which have been lost due to adverse conditions, the groups announced jointly Friday afternoon. Oaklawn Park, like much of the country impacted by recent winter weather, will add Thursday, Jan. 30 to the current racing calendar in an effort to recoup lost days of live racing. The Keeneland January Horses of All Ages Sale, which follows a week of snow and ice storms and amidst frigid temperatures, opens its three-day run Monday in Lexington, with bidding scheduled to begin at 10 a.m. The catalogue increased to 1,317 horses with the addition of five supplemental entries last Thursday, but there were already 340 head withdrawn from the auction as of Sunday evening. Despite the best efforts from the track maintenance team at Turfway Park Racing & Gaming, the lingering effects from the extreme colt and winter weather have rendered it impossible to conduct live racing Friday evening. Winter Weather Cancels Oaklawn's Weekend of Racing

With severe winter weather continuing to plague parts of the country and more on the way, Oaklawn Park has canceled racing for the entire upcoming weekend. Live racing was originally scheduled for Friday to Sunday, Jan. 10-12, but will now resume Friday, Jan. 17. The Hot Springs track has not yet announced a rescheduling of the races that were to be held this weekend. Winter weather conditions on the East Coast and the Midwest continue to impact racing operations at a variety of racetracks. Oaklawn Park, forced to cancel a number of race dates this month--including this coming weekend's live racing--due to winter weather, has moved the entire GIII Southwest S. card to Saturday, Feb. 3. Oaklawn Cancels Weekend Racing

As a result of inclement winter weather expected this weekend in the Midwest, Oaklawn Park has cancelled the weekend's Feb. 4-6 cards and will bring them back in March, the track reported Thursday. The GIII Bayakoa S., which was set to be run Saturday, will be brought back Saturday, Feb. 12 as part of an 11-race card that also includes the GIII Razorback H. Three Thursday cards--Mar. 17, 24 and 31--have been added in March to make up the postponed dates.
