Seven Heavens, a rare but completely understandable yearling sale purchase by Khalid Abdullah, impressed when beating the subsequent G3 Acomb S. third Lockheed (GB) (Exceed and Excel {Aus}) on debut over six furlongs at Ascot July 8 and started at 1-10 taking on one rival in Shabeeh (Ire) (Raven’s Pass). Tracking that opponent racing freely after receiving a bump exiting the stalls, the 620,000gns TATOCT yearling sauntered clear from the quarter pole for a bloodless six-length success. “He got a bit of a bump at the start which tested his ability and didn’t help, but once [jockey] Rab [Havlin] had him settled he went away pretty easily, Juddmonte’s racing manager Teddy Grimthorpe commented. “He will have learnt a good deal for that experience and that will stand him in good stead. We will have to see how he comes out of the race and I imagine when I speak to John Gosden he will not want to go back down to six furlongs. I would suspect that the [Sept. 10 G2] Champagne Stakes at Doncaster would come a bit too soon. He is a May 21 foal and we do not want to over-do him, but we do want to test his ability. The [G2] Royal Lodge [S. at Newmarket Sept. 24] is over a mile and we could not rule that out, especially with Juddmonte sponsoring it. We will keep all options open and see how he does after this to see whether he grows up a little bit. If Heaven Sent is any guide to the winner’s future prospects, he should be able to build as he goes on as she was a slow-burner herself for the Sir Michael Stoute stable. She was not tried in group company until she was four and adapted quickly to that level, going on to win the G3 Dahlia S. twice and place in the G2 Windsor Forest S. and G1 Falmouth S. twice and also the G1 Matron S. She has produced Firmament (GB) (Cape Cross {Ire}), who took a competitive handicap at the York Ebor meeting for the David O’Meara stable this month and You’re Hired (GB) (Dalakhani {Ire}), who did the same at Glorious Goodwood for trainer Amanda Perrett. Heaven Sent is a full-sister to the famed Megahertz (GB), heroine of the GI Yellow Ribbon S. and GI John C. Mabee H. and seven other graded-stakes races. Descended from the GI Ladies Day H. victress Plankton (Quack), the dam has a filly foal by Intello (Ger) to follow. Lifetime Record: 2-2-0-0, $32,087.
