Fasig-Tipton HORA review

The first in-person sale in Kentucky since February is in the books. The TDN's Katie Ritz was on hand to gauge the reaction.

Fasig-Tipton's Boyd Browning reflects on the sale, “Hopefully the main thing that we've done is we've restored some confidence in the marketplace. I think that a month ago or six weeks ago, you didn't know what were the sales going to look like? And if you had sales, what were they going to feel like? I mean, were they going to be disastrous? Were they going to be okay? Just the fear of the unknown. And I think what we've learned is that some of the same things that are always true. There's a significant demand for quality horses. There are certainly people that want to buy horses.”

Terry Finley of West Point Thorougbreds was very pleased with the sales environment, “I thought it was very encouraging. I mean, we saw from start to finish lots of trade took place. Legitimate buyers at virtually every level interested in the moderately priced horses to the expensive horses. I think it just provided another day of confidence that there's a legitimate marketplace. It's not euphoric under any circumstances, but I think the vast majority of owners/consignors would say they were reasonably pleased with the prices that they achieved.”
