For the third consecutive year, Arqana will host an exceptional auction of popular European stallion nominations, Friday Dec. 4 at 5:30 p.m. in the sales ring. The sale will be followed by cocktails.
The sale will benefit the association Sauvegarde des Terres d'Elevage, which has successfully coordinated the defense of some of Normandy's most renowned breeding grounds, around the Haras du Pin in the Orne region just south of Deauville, where a waste landfill has been built among several breeding farms by Guy Dauphin Environnement, a subsidiary of the waste giant Ecore. Over the course of the last four years, a series of arduous legal and political battles have taken place with protestors.
“This year, some very important developments unfolded, and a positive outcome is expected in 2016, as the French Minister of Environment is now actively involved on the subject,” said Eric Puerari, president of the Sauvegarde des Terres d'Elevage. “None of this would have been possible without the continued support of generous donators of stallion nominations, as well of course of the buyers of nominations. This whole process underlines the fantastic solidarity that the European racing and breeding industry has shown towards this just cause.”
The nominations will be announced on an ongoing basis as the donations come in.
