The newest inductees into the Maryland Thoroughbred Hall of Fame are European champion El Gran Senor and Caesar's Wish. A celebration to honor the new inductees will be held at Laurel Park Aug. 25.
Bred in Maryland, El Gran Senor was a champion in both England and Ireland at age two in 1983, winning prestigious races such as the G1 Irish Derby and G1 English Two Thousand Guineas. A two-time MD-bred champion, Caesar's Wish won nine stakes, including the GI Mother Goose S., but suffered a tragic death in the GI Alabama S. after collapsing on the far turn from a heart attack.
