Malkoboy, unplaced in his sole juvenile start, was runner-up in his first three sophomore outings this term before breaking through at Saint-Cloud on May 19, where he bested subsequent 'TDN Rising Star' Parabellum (Ire) (Dubawi {Ire}), and went off as the odds-on chalk for this black-type bow returning from a five-length win in Frauenfeld's June 25 Swiss Derby. Steadied to race off a modest pace for the most part, he made smooth headway in the straight to lead with 300 metres remaining and was pushed out in the closing stages to easily assert for a career high.
Malkoboy is the third black-type performer produced by Goldy Honor (Fr) (Highest Honor {Fr}) and is a half-brother to G3 Prix Penelope victress and three-time U.S. Grade III scorer Goldy Espony (Fr) (Vespone {Ire}), Listed Prix Policeman runner-up Querry Boy (Fr) (Equerry) and the yearling filly Goldy Hauty (Fr) (Authorized {Ire}). Goldy Honor is an unraced granddaughter of G3 Prix de Flore winner Sporades (Vaguely Noble {Ire}), herself kin to five stakes performers headed by GI Arlington Million-winning sire Mill Native (Exclusive Native) and MGSW sire French Stress (Sham), who hit the board in the G1 Poule d'Essai des Poulains, G1 Prix Jacques Le Marois and G1 Prix d'Ispahan.
