Olympiad Gets First Winner in Belterra Maiden

Olympiad Sarah Andrew

Freshman sire Olympiad claimed his first winner as a stallion when Techwerkian went gate-to-wire in the third race at Belterra Park.

Despite floating late, and with blinkers on in her third try, the 8-5 favorite comfortably got the job done for trainer Rey Hernandez and owners Rey Hernandez, Ricardo Labra, and Rhonda Cornum. She was last seen making her debut at Keeneland in April and contesting maiden claiming company at Horseshoe Indianapolis last out.

The daughter of Comedia (Smart Strike) is a half-sister to Listed winner Colonel Ludlow (Street Sense) while their dam is herself a half-sibling to GISP Beat the Benchmark (Speightstown) and the mother of MGSP Intricate (Gun Runner).

Another of the mare's half-sisters produced GSP Tulane Tryst (Into Mischief) while a third claims SW Supreme Aura (Candy Ride {Arg}). This is the extended female family of 2025 G1 Tattersalls Irish 1000 Guineas runner-up California Dreamer (GB) (Mehmas {Ire}).
