A Look Ahead With Tracy Vigors

Tracy Vigors and family | Hillwood Stud

The TDN has solicited the opinions of some prominent figures on the European bloodstock scene to answer three questions about the upcoming Flat season. Today's installment features the thoughts of Tracy Vigors of Hillwood Stud.

1) Horse you are most looking forward to seeing this season (and why)?

TV: The horse I am most looking forward to seeing on the course this year is Lord Topper (GB) (Sir Percy {GB}), a 3-year-old colt in training with Charlie Hills. We bought him as a foal and surprisingly he didn't sell at Tattersalls as a yearling. We put a syndicate together with some great friends and I hope he can pay the kids' school fees this year and maybe next!

2) A stallion who could feature prominently (doesn't have to be first season)?

TV: I thought Casamento (Ire) had a great-looking bunch of yearlings last year. We bred to him with our own mare Rohlindi with a £85,000 return at the Tattersalls October Yearling Sale in 2015. We broke a few who were all beautiful movers with a genuine attitude to please, so I look forward to seeing them on the track.

3) Positive change you would like to see for the industry in 2016?

TV: In 2016 I would love to see more young enthusiastic people come to work within the equine industry. It's a constant battle to find good staff these days and one that is becoming increasingly worrying.
