A Rose Delivered

Abingdon | Racing Post

Sunday's G2 Haras Firmamento Prix de Pomone at Deauville is a small but select affair which features the belated return of the talented The Juliet Rose (Fr) (Monsun {Ger}). Successful in Chantilly's 12-furlong G3 Prix de Royaumont last June and G2 Prix de Royallieu in October, the bay who runs for Mayfair Speculators and Equifrance Holdings was also second under a penalty in the G3 Prix Minerve over this course and distance in August and third in the G1 Prix Vermeille also at Chantilly in September. Ballymacoll's imposing 4-year-old Abingdon (Street Cry {Ire}) is bidding for a group win before she is sold later in the year during the famous stud's dispersal and she has strong claims on her impressive 10-length success in the June 25 Listed Pontefract Castle Fillies' S. and second in the G2 Lancashire Oaks at Haydock July 8. Al Asayl Bloodstock's Bateel (Ire) (Dubawi {Ire}) would ideally prefer it softer, having shown again how effective she is when it rides deep when taking Haydock's G3 Pinnacle S. over a mile and a half last time June 10.
