Last year's G1 Caulfield Cup winner Jameka (Aus) (Myboycharlie {Ire}) is likely to have her autumn campaign restricted to three starts in Melbourne, trainer Ciaron Maher told Racing and Sports. The 4-year-old filly is set to kick off in the G1 CF Orr S. Feb. 11, the country's season-opening Group 1, and will then take in the G2 Peter Young S. Feb. 25 and the G1 Australian Cup Mar. 11.
Jameka was last seen finishing 15th in the G1 Melbourne Cup Nov. 5, after which she pulled up lame. Maher told Racing and Sports, however, the bay had come through a spell in good order.
“She really spelled well and her action is great,” the conditioner said. “She's going great. She's in good order. She will kick off in the Orr S. and head to the Peter Young S. and the Australian Cup, and that might do her. It certainly won't be a taxing campaign.”
