Second on debut to Omar Bradley and ahead of Lawmaking in a debutantes contest over six furlongs at Deauville July 30, Attendu stayed over that track and trip to open his account Aug. 20 and had made sufficient progress in the interim to turn his debut form around and open his black-type account in this tactical encounter. Keen early under restraint as Lawmaking was sent to the front, the bay quickly settled for Maxime Guyon in fourth despite the pace proving only moderate. Moved forward as Omar Bradley arrived on his outer as the sprint began two out, the homebred was marginally ahead with a furlong remaining and toughed it out as Lawmaking rallied against the rail to prevail over his old rivals in a tight three-way go. “He's been improving with each run and he proved here that this seven-furlong trip is also good for him,” trainer Carlos Laffon-Parias said. “We are thinking about bringing him back here for the [Oct. 4] G1 Prix Jean-Luc Lagardere, but that's over a mile now so we'll see. He's also in the G1 Dewhurst S. [at Newmarket Oct. 10] if we want to keep him at seven.”
