The Magic Millions Adelaide Yearling Sale wrapped up Wednesday with its single-session Book 2. Figures were slightly up on last year's significant gains, highlighted by a buyback rate that dropped 11% to 12.9%. The average was up slightly (1.6%) to A$13,505, while the median climbed 5.3% to A$10,000. A total of 108 yearlings changed hands for A$1,458,500, compared to 102 sold for A$1,355,500 last year.
Melbourne Cup-winning trainer Darren Weir, in partnership with John Foote Bloodstock, bought two of the day's top five lots including the session-topping Good Journey colt (lot 342) for A$50,000. He also picked up a Hussonet filly (lot 420) for A$40,000.
Aquanita Racing was the buyer of the session's second top lot, a Strategic (Aus) colt (lot 379) for A$47,500.
