Al Johrah To Shade Eclipse Rivals?

Al Johrah | Scoop Dyga

Al Shaqab Racing's Al Johrah (GB) (Bated Breath {GB}) bids to provide her freshman sire (by Dansili {GB}) with a first black-type success in Wednesday's G3 Prix Eclipse at Maisons-Laffitte. She found 'TDN Rising Star' Lady Aurelia (Scat Daddy) seven lengths too good in Royal Ascot's June 15 G2 Queen Mary S. and, having finished second once more in the July 24 G2 Prix Robert Papin at this track, was closer to that foe in the Aug. 21 G1 Prix Morny at Deauville last time.

Her six rivals include Cosachope (Fr) (Soave {Ger}), last of six in the Robert Papin after annexing Deauville's July 2 G3 Prix du Bois, who lines up off a fifth in the Sept. 1 G3 Prix d'Arenberg at Chantilly. Sans Equivoque (Ger) (Stormy River {Fr}) bounced back off a third to Cosachope in the Prix du Bois to garner the Aug. 15 Listed Prix de la Vallee d'Auge at Deauville, while in-form trainer Pia Brandt supplements Fas (Ire) (Fastnet Rock {Aus}), who makes a swift return off a third in the Sept. 12 Listed Prix Saraca here.
