Mahmood Al Zarooni has withdrawn his appeal against his eight-year ban for administering anabolic steroids to 15 horses, the British Horseracing Authority have announced today. After declaring his opposition to the severity of the disqualification handed out as a result of the use of the prohibited substances stanozolol and ethylestranol, the former Godolphin trainer has opted to take his punishment on the chin. “The BHA has received notice from the solicitors of Mahmood Al Zarooni that he has withdrawn his appeal regarding his eight-year disqualification,” the BHA announced on its Twitter page.
